Shelby
Shelby was one of my first models when I started my business. I approached Megan, who was a coworker of mine at the time, and asked her if Shelby might like to be a model for the dog photography business I was starting. Megan agreed and so the three of us met at Flat Top in January of 2018. I can’t believe that it’s been almost 2 years since that shoot! If you’ve been watching my work for a little bit, you will definitely have seen Shelby! She’s all over my investment guide, my product samples and my website. She was such a great model and those are still some of my favorite photos that I’ve ever taken. Those photos are also on my blog here.
I was really excited when Megan approached me about doing another session with Shelby. Sweet Shelby is 15 years old and is slowing down a bit. She has been by Megan’s side since Shelby was a puppy, which included fishing trips and plane adventures in Beaver’s and Cessna’s. Megan said that Shelby is a once in a lifetime dog and I’m so glad we got to capture these years of Shelby’s life. Shelby loves to run but since she’s gotten older it’s just more taxing to do that. Megan’s solution was to make adjustments on a kids’ bike trailer and fit it for Shelby.
I am so blown away by Megan’s thoughtfulness and love for Shelby. They have been buddies for 15 years and Megan wasn’t going to let anything stand in the way of them being together. So for our summer session, we rigged up my bike and Shelby’s trailer and headed to the Coastal Trail! We started off walking with the bike while Shelby explored (and made a bit of a detour into the lake!) and as she got tired, we transitioned her into the trailer. This was such a fun shoot and I loved getting to be creative with capturing Megan and Shelby’s relationship. Thank you so much Megan for spending the morning with me, I had a blast with the two of you!
